Build a better-driving 1973–1986 C10 or 1987 R10. Choose parts for your truck’s year and existing hardware, or bring LTAC into the plan for your whole build.
This Garage covers half-ton C10/R10 2WD pickups. Check the engine, transmission, wheelbase, steering connections and any spindle changes before ordering. K10 4WD applications require a separate selection.
Brakes & stance
This front-brake combination is for 1973–1987 C10/R10 2WD trucks using the required Wilwood steel drop spindles. The kit and spindles are sold separately.
Red six-piston Superlite calipers and 12.19-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Hubs support 5 x 4.75-inch and 5 x 5-inch bolt patterns.
Requires 831-15932 one-piece steel ProSpindles. This is not a stock-spindle kit or a rear-brake kit. Flex hoses and spindles are separate.
Shop the front brake kit
A left and right cast-steel spindle pair with integrated steering arms and a 2½-inch drop. Match these to the Wilwood brake kit above.
For matching Wilwood brake kits only. Do not pair with stock brakes or substitute the aluminum Modular Pro spindle.
Shop the matching spindlesBefore ordering, check your wheel against Wilwood’s kit clearance template; wheel diameter alone does not establish fit. Match hose fittings, routing, master cylinder and rear-brake balance to the installation. This selection does not cover K10 4WD or C20/C30 trucks.
Steering
A 12.7:1 steering box for the original C-series/R-series power-steering layout, with a 3/4-inch 30-spline input. Fits the original power-steering pitman arm and includes inserts for flare-style hose connections.
1973–76 trucks require the 990012 rag-joint connector. A manual-to-power conversion also needs the appropriate power-steering pitman arm, pump, hoses and supporting parts; this box is not a complete conversion kit.
Shop Borgeson 800132
Borgeson 990012 provides the 3/4-inch 30-spline box-side connection and disc. Check the existing column-side connection and installation requirements before ordering.
View 990012 couplerMatch pump output and hoses to the box: Borgeson recommends 2.5–3.0 GPM and 1,100–1,250 PSI operating pressure, with a 1,450 PSI maximum. Modified steering shafts need their own connection check.
Cooling
Aluminum radiator with dual 12-inch SPAL fans and an automatic-transmission cooler for the 1973–1987 C10 heavy-duty radiator opening.
Check the HD opening, mounts and hose arrangement. This is the conventional-engine configuration; an LS swap needs a different selection. Compare the assembly’s approximately 33.25-inch width, 20.75-inch height and 6.75-inch depth with your truck.

Check radiator availabilityBrake selection starts with your spindle and wheel clearance. Cooling depends on the radiator opening, engine and transmission; fuel and exhaust selections also depend on year and wheelbase. Tell us what is on the truck and where you want to take it.
